New speedo with tach?
I picked up a custom chrome speedo with built in tach for my bike this winter and it's almost time to start putting it in. There is a question I've got. I know the bike has the self-canceling signals feature. I've been told that if I install this speedo that feature will go away. Is this true? Something to do with a reed switch. Is this switch inside the stock speedo now? I really like having a tach on all of my vehicles. And the way my bars are set up now I can't find a suitable place for an aftermarket tach. I can usually tell by listening to the motor where the shift points are but it's just nice to know when your twisting it hard sometimes, how far you've pushed it. Anyone have any expierence with this?

Don't know of the year of the change over, but the reed switches were in the older bikes (90's). Your cancelling option should be handled by the TSM/TSSM and not reed switches. It's electronic now not mechanical any longer. It should still work for you.
I have a stupid Q for ya. I tend to hotrod from time to time and I think that having to look down at the tach may be a pain in the @$$. Is it a big deal or am I over thinking it?

For whatever it's worth there's a tach on my Ultra. I guess you're right, it's nice to know that it's there but the same could be true of all the other gauges. At the end of the day, I still shift by sound and feel and only rely on the speedo and fuel gauge.

I hear ya KB! I just feel it would be nice to have one to GLANCE at once in a while!
