The Red was the base run. Got it the best we could with the short shot pipes. Have a set of big shots going on soon so will give a but more room for tuning.

Default TD302 numbers

Hi TD302 could you put your engine size into your signature. The crux of the ft/lbs is the ratio of ft/lbs torque to cubic inches

Default Stats are good

I like to get a ratio on peoples bikes mods to see how the ft/lbs to cubic inches stack up. I reckon that is the only measure worth looking into in terms of engine performance. Person may not have a big 140" engine because its not suitable to where he rides, like in town

Default good ratio

TD I calculate that at 1.136 ft/lbs per cubic inch. Thats as good or better than the best I have seen. I reckon with performance heads you might get it up a bit more to 1.2 but its way better than my ratio of 1.0625. I am thinking about these Woods cams and have written to the European agents in Holland to ask what they can produce. They say they will reply after Xmas. I reckon I will be going for a complete performance head package with them as I am in London and if their answers are good I will have to drive over to Holland and leave the bike with them. Then fly back to collect it.
Do you have any thoughts on performance heads?

It all helps just depends on how far you want to go. I'm thinking of getting another set of heads and giving them a once over plus adding more comp but where do you stop. I'm happy with mine as is. I hope the big shots don't change the torque I'm getting now a little more would be great. I'm mainly changing them to get a better tune in it. We needed to run a big main jet in the carb to get the 14.4afr as it is so just a little fine tuning. It's good having an 88" that has my mates 103" struggling to keep up. For me it also comes down to hp per $$ spent. I would of left mine as is but the big shots come up cheap so I'm mad not to do it. Time will tell.

Makes sense TD.
Mine is the evo 80" and I am just reading this book on its engine

Donny's Unauthorized Technical Guide to Harley-Davidson, 1936 to Present: Volume IV: Performancing the Evolution eBook: Donny Petersen: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store Donny's Unauthorized Technical Guide to Harley-Davidson, 1936 to Present: Volume IV: Performancing the Evolution eBook: Donny Petersen: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store

Seems good and I am learning quite a bit but its in Kindle format so the pictures are not in the right places. If you go for this book get the paper back instead. But he reckons your AFR should be closer to 13.

Yeh that's where we want to get it. I always run 98 octane fuel as well. Mine doesn't like the V&H short shots and was hard to tune. EFI would be easier to tune I'd say.
