Currently running with 259e cams which are great at the higher RPM but not great at the low end, any ideas welcomed.

The dealer has a new printer for his Dyno and when done, will post the changes.
I would've expected more out that build... Something not right there.. Hell my 80" Evo did 97/97..... I would go back to who tuned it..

Default 2007 fxstb

Hi All,

Bike: 2007 FXSTB
History: Bike is a US import to Australia. I belive it cam to Aus with a stage 3 big bore kit.

I bought it at 12000kms, with stock exhaust fitted for rego purposes. Had it tuned by local dealer after fitting Short Shots. Was a canned map and seemed fine. Moved to a hotter climate and bike started pinging, 33000kms. Had it dynoed, so before is the canned map and after is the tune.

Dynoed:
103ci big bore kit
Manual compression releases
SE255 cams
V&H Short Shots
K n N filter behind the football
SEPST

Before: 77HP and 105ft/lbs.

After: 88HP and 112ft/lbs.

Dyno 1

Bike was still pinging and tuner recommended a cam change, he did take adjust something to try and fix the ping after I went back to let him know it was still pinging but without putting it back on the dyno. It still pinged under certain conditions. I just babied the bike for a while I gained funds to sort it.

Spoke with new tuner after I moved locatioms, after looking at the bike he also recommended a cam change. I also managed to source a Thunderheader 2 into 1 for a good price.

Before:
103ci big bore kit
Manual compression releases
SE255 cams
V&H Short Shots
K n N filter behind the football
SEPST - Dynoed, pinging, timing pulled.

82HP and 96ft/lbs.

After:
103ci big bore kit
Manual compression releases, Not used now.
S&S 570 CE cams, easystart.
Thunderheader 2 into 1
K n N filter behind the football
SEPST

Dyno 2.

No more pinging, woohoo.

OK, so here goes on my recent numbers:

Original upgrade was a Stage II, new cams 255, V&H Straight Shots numbers were poor at around 82HP & 86TQ

Remeber base HP for these rides can be the high 60's!!

Next Stage IV kit added >>>Link<<< got the HP to 96 and the TQ to 102 with the 259e cams, (much better cam)

As I do like that increased power when needed, not often but nice to know its there I had the 110 Big Bore kit added but changed a few things:

Here it is:

103 to 110 Big Bore HD Kit
Woods 999-6a cam with adjustable pushrods and gasket/o-ring kit
Woods pushrods and gasket kit.
Woods Lifters upgrade alpha-directional-roller-lifters
Larger oil pump for helping keep engine cool
FAT Cat 2-1 Pro Exhaust with perforated baffles
Power Vision Tuner (replacement for the HD screaming eagle tuner HD are discontinuing).

Well, my numbers before running the engine in are 118HP and 110TQ

So, what I have I learned, if you love your bike and want to have that extra power then fine, I could have saved a ton of money (with part/ex) buying a new 2018 Ultra or most of the bagger range of bikes with the new engine but hey, this is my Heritage and been with me 3 years now with over 32,000miles in my first 2 years riding in the Middle East so had to bring her home to the UK and I am pleased, wow, you bet, she really has the guts to cruise with the best of them and for sure, will never be left behind again in a run.

Looking forward to my rides in Europe this year, St Tropez in May, Prague in July, the Dolomites through Italy later and can't wait for the weather to cheer up.

Ride safe everyone,

Bob

PS I also added the Shot Gun air shocks and they were hell to install but hey, they make a huge difference depending on the terrain you are riding.
