seems like there could be a better looking design but I can not find any after market deflectors...and as for url8's comment....sorry I am not butch enough for you and I do have a car...I like to actually enjoy the ride vs. having to fight the wind and turbulence if possible and I even wear a full helmet....

Soph I was ribbing...heres some help maybe. There have been all sorts of threads on this subject and for me I never really felt the buffeting that some riders do. I see you have a shield on your bike and I went with a darker shield but shorter as well. CeeBailey also makes the windshield in a "wider" version than stock. A good friend of mine ordered the wider version which is 2" wider and I have ridden his bike before and after and did notice quite a bit of difference in reduction in wind. Perhaps theres some other members that have done this too and can comment.
Again, meant no disrespect...dont usually do that unless I'm making RoadGlide comments and then well......Alls fair!!!

JK back....my shield is fine...actually should be lower but I can't because it is a quick release but not the clamps....it is my legs...my Shield works well on the highway to work, takes the wind off my chest and not a whole lot of buffering on my helmet...I just often find myself looking through the shield because I had Corbin modify one of their touring seats and I am real low now.

Deflectors for my legs because of the forward controls would be most helpful...I might just get the chrome HD one's because they are in stock and are less than $100....

Do they help the passenger at all with wind ? My wife bitches about the wind buffeting around her head and helmet at highway speeds.

Thanks, Ron

I have the Harley lowers on my bike (sometimes) and while they do a great job of stopping the wind from coming up under your windshield they do deflect most of that wind down to your lower legs. If you are looking to get the wind off your legs maybe a crash bar with the cover (chaps) will stop the wind on your legs. The biggest thing for me was stopping the wind coming from under the windshield. In my opinion Harley has a terribly designed windshield. I would definitly check the aftermarket before buying a Harley one.

Have you looked into a fork brace, put 1 on my other bike & made a world of difference. Not only did it stop the wind drift but real helped with the handling. Know it sounds weird but it made the front tire stick to the road, or at least i think it did.....

Good question. I am in the same situation and I can't find anything showing that they reduce buffeting for the passenger.

Thumbs up They sure do work!

I have a 2009 Heritage with a stock screen and wear a Shoei Multitec helmet. I found riding with the visor up caused buffeting at 100km/h (60mph) so severe it was like having tunnel vision. My head would shake so much that my vision became distorted. When I flipped the visor down, it all went away until I reached about 120km/h (75mph) and it started over again.

I did quite a lot of research and after reading this forum, decided to bite the bullet and install some HD Chrome Wind Deflectors.

Installation was mind numbingly simple - they attached with the two existing bolts each side, fitted first time, I didn't have to mount them "back to front" and the whole process took less than 10 minutes. Throw away the HD instruction sheet, it is designed to make it look like a complicated process with exploded diagrams that are meaningless at the end of the day.

Results:
  • I was GOBSMACKED - the buffeting has TOTALLY stopped (visor up or down). The wind is deflected in a gentle arc from the leading edge of the deflectors around to the middle of your calves - you can actually put your hand down and trace the line by feel. They stop that upward surge you get behind the screen (major cause of helmet shake as far as I am concerned) and smooth the whole ride out.
  • My first ride was Sunday with 26 other friends - not a single one noticed until I pointed them out. I did not receive a single negative comment although a couple said that they weren't for them personally.
  • We ran through about 25km of very heavy rain - my leather pants remained relatively dry and certainly drier than if the wind deflectors had not been there.
  • I doubt that the passenger would feel any effect - they are protected by the rider anyway.
As far as I am concerned, highly recommended - they were so good, I felt I could almost sit back, relax, have a bourbon, a cigar and read the paper -

Just put them on my 07 Heritage and I think they work great. I personally have no problems with the looks either (especially on a Heritage). Just looks like a little more chrome up front which is never a bad thing...lol
