Second best air deflection I have installed after my full fairing. I ran the deflectors with the HD windshield for sometime and really noticed the difference in the buffeting. Worth every penny IMHO. Tried running without them when I added the fairing but didnt care for the wind from below. I put them back on and had to modify the top edge to clear the bottom edge of the fairing but they still make a huge difference in the wind coming from below the fairing. I also run the soft lowers seen in the pics when the temps are cold, just another way to extend my riding months here in the High Rockies. Never had a clearance issue with either lighting configuration.
I should note that the deflectors where Harley's newest edition part number 57400143 they are shaped different from the old version like a forward scoop best way I can describe it. They also appear to be wider than the older version.
Just installed the part number 57400143 today. I also wonder if they could effect the engine cooling - - also surprised with the "forward scoop" as it looks strange. I ASSUME Harley has a reason for the forward scoop design.
Anyone know if they cause a reduced engine cooling - - I want them on for a summer road trip.
Thanks,
Balloo

FWIW, I also installed the new style fangs last week and rode about 150 miles over a 3-4 day period and noticed a very slight difference in buffeting at 70-75 mph...maybe a 10% improvement at best.
I DID notice more engine heat on my legs and the oil temp gauge on the bike increased by 10 degrees.
It makes me wonder from the previous posts on this thread if the old style fangs work better than the new style fangs?
I decided to take 'em off due to a very slight improvement if any with buffeting and an increase in engine heat that was noticeable.
I'm gonna keep 'em and maybe put 'em back on for winter riding, but they are NOT going on the bike in warm/hot weather conditions.
I usually take mine off in the summer months due to a noticable increase in the heat from the engine, especially in slow traffic or at a stop. When the weather starts to cool back down they go back on and I do notice a big drop in wind buffeting when they are on.
What about the Kuryakyn fangs. I have spent all night reading every post (and there are lots) that mention Softail and Fangs. Very little to say about fangs on the Deluxe though.
Regardless, since I ride in Texas - and heat is an issue, cold weather, not so much - do the vents or slots in the Kuryakyn fangs resolve the heat issue or not? Do the Kuryakyn fangs even work? Anyone with information, please post or PM me.
Old thread, and I know these are discontinued by HD. But I found the equivalent at J&P Cycles, and just ordered them. I just can't take the head buffeting on highways. I can't see straight.
Good reminder,, its been known and posted in here many times that they work.
In fact I just looked at some couple weeks ago at our dealers.. IF I am right,,,?? they have a newer design of them out and they were right at $100 with tax... http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...20-57400146--1
