I found him on ebay. I was hoping for just the deflectors as I really don't want to give up my windvest (I love that thing) but might try one of his shields anyway. I had seen his stuff on ebay before but never really looked at it.
I get minimal buffeting with the windvest but am doing a 7,000 mile endurance run this summer and thinking even less buffeting will be better for that.
I installed a set last year but they rubbed the turn signals and I took them off an returned them. I could not even mount them with the flange to the front. I might go back for another set and try adjusting the signals forward to give them some clearance. Thanks .
The info here helped. Easy install, little tight to the stock turn signals. The wind coming up under the beard has gone away. When turned all the way left the deflector rings when just barely taps the engine guard. PROBLEM though seems to have gained one heck of handlebar wobble when slowing down like 20 mph. If I don't hang on it would dump me. I don't like this at all. The wind deflectors work but look not so cool. Me No like appearance. Heritage Softail
Well guys I had been reading all of the forums about the windshields. So I put the nostalgic one on our Deluxe. Hated to do it but my wife and I wanted to ride and the winds riding through the mountains and interstate were too much at highway speeds. I put the windshield on and wow what a difference...but then the turbulence under my helmet was terrible. Talk about the buffeting to make me want to pull over and puke. I identified the source of my trouble. The air behind the shield was dead. It was barely if anything clipping the top of my helmet. I am 6' tall with a 32" inseam (yes the Deluxe is too small for me, and I put 'go-forwards' on it from cycle vision to move the floor boards forward). So I put the 21" king size windshield on her. So the air source. It was hitting my shins and coming over my knees and merging at the rear of the tank and shooting up to the bottom of my helmet (3/4, H-D ultra jet) and setting up the bad oscillation over 60 mph. I then installed the Chrome deflectors yesterday and took my wife and I out for a 140 mile ride through Ramona, Julian, Cuyamaca and onto I-8 back into San Diego. Much much better. The oscillation is still there but not to the extent it was previously. I noticed that if I squeezed the tank with my legs I could almost eliminate all of it but who wants to do that. So I sucked it up. Bottom line, windshield and Chrome deflectors work. It looks crappy on the deluxe and this is only temporary until we get a roadglide and put lowers on her or an ultra-limited and the deluxe becomes a local cruiser as she was intended to. Putting on the deflectors was troubling. They look like they are wrong-side out. But with the tear drop or bullet turn signals mounted to the aux light bar it's the only way they will mount. The install instructions suck. Pictures on this thread and the catalouge pic helped the most. The windshield on our 2007 deluxe goes between the deflector bracket and the Aux mount for the lights. see pics. Ok, enough hope this helps a few of you suffering as I was.
