I agree with changing the front fender, also the rear fender needs changed to make the bike flow with the OLD school look,,, IMO....

I just went through the box with the parts I ordered, and I do have that spacer! So go tell your parts guy he's full of the proverbial!!! Got my parts delivered 11/05/2010, can't beleive it would be obsolete in a couple of months!!!
Hey my friend! That is exactlly the one. Yeah. I tried to tell them that I found it odd that of all the parts that are specific to the springer application, such a crucial part would be obsolete and not others.

I tell you what! I probably would have had my build done a long time ago if not for the fact both dealers in my area are completely uselss when it comes to answering question about anything that is not in the H-D parts and accessories catologue!

Thanks again for helping me out with this. As of now, this is the only piece of the puzzle I was missing. Now I just need to wait for everything to arrive (several parts were out of stock and had to be ordered) and I should be about ready. In the meantime I will be working on my lighting and rear fender.

Now I just gotta make up my mind about what to do with the exhaust!

Skeez, I am in the process of making this same mod to my bike with regard to the front fender. I have been searching and searching for insight and then one of the guys on here told me about this thread. I was wondering if you had a chance to get the front fender mounted yet? If so, are you able to shed any more light as to any additional parts that would be needed beside what is on the list from Coyote? Did you ever find the parts breakdown of the front end and spacer?

Thanks man.... Apreciate the help.

I am currently getting my front fender ready for paint so it is not on yet but I have everything I need. I can put together an updated parts list for you as soon as I get home this evening. The biggest difference between what I came up with and Coyote's (which was a huge help and a starting point for me. Thanks OC!) is that I determined that you need a new right hand side spacer because when you remove the stock fender, you also remove the chrome bracket which doubles as a spacer for that side. Just look for me to edit this post.

Love your Bones, BTW. Are those the Screamin' Eagle mufflers and heat shields? I have been going back and fourth on what to do with my exhaust. What I would really like is some black true duals with fishtails but there is a lot of expense involved since I would probably need to do a remap and at that point I would just also get a Stage 1 air cleaner. After putting on the Fatboy rear fender, I realized that the stock pipes still look pretty good and maybe I would just black them out for now.

Do you have a light bar on the front? I have one to but I currently have it off because I am adding Heritage style turn signals and I am rewiring the whole thing. I also changed out my stock headlight for a Springer Classic light that I had PC'd black.

The additional spacer you mentioned must be the 43624-00 (qty1) I seen that in the post.

Those are screaming eagle slip ons. I am replacing them with a set of Sampson Legend Longhorns (black with the fishtails). I am also going to the stage 1 screaming eagle air cleaner and the vance and hines fuel pac. The slip ons were on the bike from the dealer.

On the front fender light bar, I will not be mounting that bar on my bike, I want to keep it clean so when I go to paint I will have them clean up a few holes that exist.

I would appreciate you supplying me with your latest list to confirm my order. Also, if you get a chance, shoot me some pics of you front light set up. I would love to see that. Thanks for all your help.

Ride Safe.

Hey you guys, yaa don't need a spacer. You cut that frigging wrechy looking thing, thats the fender bracket. Cut off the long piece and save the round piece and put it back in its original place. Ground off the piece to make it smooth and placed it on the bottom, toward the ground.

Thanks Coyote, I thought about doing that but then thought I might one day for some reason need it. But you know what, I probably never will so I will just make the cut and go with it.

Thanks for your breakdown list. Man that is a big help.

Ditto on being cheap OC! I do everything on the cheap as much as possible. Part of me being cheap is slavaging what I can if it means I can get some money out of it to help pay for the other stuff. I thought the same thing when I was first looking at my parts list but I I decided that I wanted to preserve that front fender and all its parts in case I either want to ever reuse it or sell it.

Here is my list:

Front Fender FLSTS/FLSTSC Primered #59164-97A
Front Axle #41116-97
Thick Slotted (castle) Hex Nut #7987
Washer, 5/8 ID X 1.125 OD
Spacer,Wheel,Front (R) #43624-00
Axle Nut Spacer (L) 9268
Spacer Insert (R) 9196
Bearing, Spherical (x2) 9194
Nylon Fender Insert (x2) #9207 with O Ring (x2) #11261 (See note below)
Chrome Hub Cap (x2) #43466-97
Hub Can Seal (x2) #43467-97

The O Rings listed come with the nylon fender insert. When I asked about them septerately, the parts people told me that #11261 brought up some $800 exhaust part. When I saw them in the parts book I noticed that under the listing for the Nylon Insert it read "w/11261 x2. The nylong insert is a plastic ring with a grooved outter edge. The rubber O-ring fits in this groove.

I would quote you prices but I got different discounts on everything I bought from 10-15% so my prices might not coincide with what you might get quoted by the dealer. I got my fender brand new in the box on eBay for dirt cheap and I scavanged my hub caps, hub cap seals and fender light off another fender that I bought on eBay and then resold to another forum member.

I can't post any images of the blow up diagrams here because of copyright rules. Email me @ cgrodriguez@earthlink.net and I will see what I can do.

Hope this helps.

Cool fender mods and great thread. Now y'all got me thinkin'....

It sucks about the dealerships though. They're all pretty much the same. I've been in the auto parts biz literally all my life and do my damnedest to help a customer find what they want...and for dozens of manufacturers and model. It ain't like the guys behind the counter have to really look in too many books to find stuff. I once applied to the local HD for the parts counter. I guess I wasn't a big enough of a condescending know it all a-hole....

Anyway, nice work everybody.
