I have changed out my brakes on my 05 fatboy to some ebc one and I cant stop it from squealing should I have stayed with the Harley brand or is there a trick to the brakes
What I'd like to do is put duel disc brakes on the front of my "Deuce", as the stock brakes really have a lot to be desired.
They are horrible.
Has anybody done this ?
Bobby.
I run a single 6 piston PM caliper on my ride on the front and a 4 piston on the rear. fI find there is no need to run dual disc if you have a good caliper. Let me know if you need pricing, I can get them for you. I consider the brakes the second most important safety feature after tires.
This is interesting. I have an 02 Deuce and have not had to change my from brakes yet. The back have been changed out, but I have not had a squealing issue with either. My first thought is contact with pads to rotor, which has to be the preliminary source obviously. Were your brakes squealing before the swap to EBCs? If not, then the material makeup of the EBCs might be the source, but only an assumption. Next, what is the condition of your rotor? You'll likely have grooves, but if you wore your pads down (metal to metal contact) then you may have scarred the rotors. One more question: Not "******* you", but have you changed your back pads out yet? The reason why I ask is if you haven't means you might be using the front brake as your primary braking method. I know I'll probably get "hammered" by some over this, but to me the back brake should be the initial source for braking followed by the front with minimal application, unless of an all out emergency... There is nothing I hate more is ride on gravel or an oily road and try to stop with the front brake, not gooood. Hope I given some tidbits that might help you and please forgive me for the wordy rant....

Soon after getting my 86 FXSTC, I put a dual disc chrome front end on it.
It was for looks since the skinny 21" would brake traction with a solo.
Have you thought about a better single brake setup? http://www.performancemachine.com/Ca...spx?display=43 or Brembo?

Agree ... maybe we should start a 'retro' thread though where owners fit cross ply car tyres and drum brakes .....
