Rough Idle 07 Heritage
I have had 2 '80 model rice burners that I did all my own work on, and have had the Heritage for 3 years now. I got the extended service plan and have been on time with all service intervals, and after the plan was up, paid for the 30k checkup. It has never given me any problems, has always been good to me.
The other day I went out for a ride and stopped to fill up, as soon as I left the gas station it started spitting and sputtering and hesitating. I got it home and figured bad fuel, so I drained the tank,(siphoned the old fashion way) got fresh fuel and added some Sea Foam. (1 oz per gallon) My wife wasn't happy about me using the measuring cup out of the kitchen, but she will get over it. When I went to start the bike, found the battery dead. Trickle charged it, got the bike started, but it idles fine for about a minute then hesitates with an air puff sound in between hesitations. I'm thinking next might be the fuel filter, or maybe a hole in the fuel line sucking air, or electrical... Any ideas?
Thanks

I was coming home from Yosemite to SoCal a couple summers ago and stopped in Bakersfield, hot hot Bakersfield. Filled the bike, went inside to get a water, got back on the bike and a few feet out of the station the bike stuttered and acted like it wanted to die. What happened was I filled it to much, the heat expanded the fuel and put too much pressure on the system. Ran it a mile or two and all was fine.
It's hot in Texas right now isn't it?
Mine had 33k on her with it started..
Supposed to installl new filler at 25k, but i went longer.
The wrench say's the Ethanol gas is causing the problem and now after reading most new boat's are having the same Issue's.
so,,,,, change out everything inside the tank to see is its the issue.. Its time anyway...
I had a intermittent miss couple yrs ago, both of my bolts were not tight.
