Did anyone have problems with the harley flush mount gas gauge?,cant seem to get mine to work right on my 07 deluxe,i did buy it used on e bay, seller had no description, hooked up all the wires except for a grey wire, had no clue where that went, directions did not list it,it read empty till i removed the pump then it read correct, the minute i put the plate back it went to empty almost like a ground, wiggle the connection to the pump then it went to full with a half tank?
I installed a brand new one on mine about a year and a half ago. It works great except I forgot to plug it back in after the last tank removal. I'll check what I did with the gray wire. Some people had issues with these with the lights burning out and such.
I have an HD flush cap and gauge on my 08 FatBoy. I believe it had 4 wires you had to feed through the tank before you attached the connector. I think the color of the wires in the gauge also matched the opposing wires in the bike harness in-line connector. So it was pretty easy to install. You can go to the HD website and download the instructions for your model and year. You may not have the right one. I would check that too.
Just looked at mine. Four wire connector but only three wires in both the gauge and harness. I think this is the instruction sheet for the HD fuel cap and gauge kit for your 07 Deluxe: http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J03979.pdf
Prost my Deluxe is 07 also, and I had no spare wires either, I'll take a look later see if I can find the inst leaflet, but if I recall rightly it was a real easy fit matching the colours up perfectly.
