Default 21" 40 spoke question

I just purchased a heritage softail and I planned to change the wheel on the front to a 21" 40 spoke to match the back wheel. I see some people run the 21x2.15 on the front but I know it is much thinner than the stock 16". Is anyone running the 2.15 width on your bike and how do you like it? Does it handle ok with the much smaller wheel on the front? I am either going with the 21x2.15 or the 21x3.25(i think) and I am just wanting to pick the right wheel. Thanks!

Get the wider one. The skinny tire looks funny under the fender.

I have an 18"x3.5 40 spoke if interested.

Thanks for the reply. Send me a message and let me know what you would take for it. I have been looking at the 21 but I may consider the 18. Do you still have a whitewall mounted on it that you would be selling with it? If so what is the condition of the tire? Thanks.

These guys are right the 21x3.25 works and looks best on a luxe. I have used a 21x2.25 on both of my deluxes with no issuses at all and handling was good, it just makes the front end feel lighter. The reason I went with the 40 spoke 21x2.25 is because of cost, you can find a new HD 21" wheel for a song and make a big impact on the look of your bike for less cash. But if I had the cash I would do it right and go with the wider 21" wheel. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the replies and the picts. I have considered the thinner rim because of price as well. There is a big difference in the two.

Santo, what did you do for spacers? I'm putting a 2.25" x21" Night train stocker on my Luxe.

I used the stock spacers, I think all I did was switched sides.
