Throttle cable routing
I think it's time for a new throttle and idle cable. Lubed the old ones and they are better, but one line still has a kink and they aren't too smooth. I changes bars a couple years back to some pullback bars with built in risers. I used the same throttle cables but I couldn't route them the same since the bars were wider, taller, and swept back more. Factory the throttle cable routed in front of the rubber part of the brake line, I had to route it behind. Now that I am putting on new cables I want to go a bit longer, maybe 2"-4"? I am thinking of going in front of the rubber part of the brake line, or maybe the steel part? I also remember my friends 09 XL had the throttle lines swept way in the front and around the trees. I have attached a pic and any recommendations are welcome.

I just changed the bars on my deuce. It had the stock risers (6" with about 1.5" pull back) and some reduced reach bars on it from previous owner. I put 4" straight risers and a drag bar on it and had way to much cable slack left over creating the same problems you are describing now. Throttle cable was binding, especially bad when bars were returned right. I went with shorter cables. They had enough length to route kind of parallel with the brake line. I did NOT like the look of routing them through and around the fork. Also, the more unnecessary length you have, the more friction on that throttle cable, so keep that in mind. I got my throttle and idle cable from Magnum Shielding, in their sterling chromite finish. To say they are better quality than stock is the understatement of the year. They are great, extremely smooth operation, look, etc. I'll post pics of my routing in a bit.

here are some pics. My routing is much different than stock. I went with a shorter route than stock because I lean toward a more minimalist look, and again, less friction. Also, Magnum Shielding makes it easy to pick your cable: plug in your scooter information and it will generate the stock length and give you stock +2", +4", etc. I used a piece of Romex wire as a fake cable to get the length I wanted and nail down how the routing was going to work.

Mine are routed like yours. I didn't shorten my cables but increased the reach which had the same effect. I am going to go to the Magnum black pearl cables so maybe my length will be ok since I will have a better cable?
