hey everybody ive been contemplating buying some new handlebars and after trying out the beach bars and the ape hangers at the hd dealer ive decided to go with the ape hangers. So the search began and I found the outlaw apes from wild1, but now here is where the decision is not so sure. I think that im going to get the 10in bars because my arms are short already. Im wanting to do some powder coating on the bike to get some more parts black. They sell their bars in chrome or black. Right now much of the bike is chrome except pipes, grips, seat. I just wanted some opinions on what you guys think about the black bars on my bike. I am going to be in the process of changing forktube covers and the headlight surrounding black. Work in progress
I say chrome. Unless your going to black out the whole front end and a bunch of other stuff IMO. If your going with 10s, you might want to consider heritage bars? Easy swap with no cable change and they are only $50. Just a thought.
Thanks AA, i just looked up the heritage bars and while they are a good economical choice I wanted to get the outlaws because of the difference in angles plus Ive heard they are comfortable as well. . I was reading somewhere, and I think i remember reading that you didnt have to do cable changes with these until after 12". I dont know I'm going to think about it some more before I do anything. Thanks again.
I don't know what kind of riding you do the most of...but for me, Apes have never given me the control for riding twisties or the comfort for long range cruising, so while they might look cool, and it's your bike, think about how, when and why you ride when thinking about the changes you want to make. When I'm making a change, it's about function first, form second...but that's why I'M making my bike payments and not you
Thanks for the replies everyone. Guitardude I'm only going 10" so I'm hoping the control loss won't be too great. If I feel like installing the apes change too much I'll put it in reverse.

It'll feel fine. I have 16" on mine and have NO problems in the twisties. But to each his own.....
