Default Barnett Cable quality question..

Hi,

Just got a new set of Stainless Steel braided throttle/idle cables by Barnett. I'm concerned about the hardware, the 90 degree end and adjusting parts. They are supposed to be chromed but don't look like it, the 15 year old ones I'm taking off look better.

Those that use these, how do they hold up, any rust or corrosion issues?

Thanks
Ds

I run Barnett on the crossbones. I can't speak specifically toward the chrome cause mine are the stealth cables. I can say overall I have not had any issues with them.

Thanks Brett...

Anyone else, I need to make up my mind if I'm going to use them or send them back...

Thanks

Regardless of the cable quality, if the appearance of the adjusters concerns you I would call them and inquire whether they are chrome or not. If they say they are and yours don't look chrome they can swap them out or you can return them. If they aren't and you want chrome, the HD Diamondback cables and the Magnum cables have chrome adjusters.

I have the HD Diamondback cables and they work well and have maintained their appearance; no yellowing, rust or corrosion.

Good luck.

3 years with Barnett cables, no issues with them at all.

My only complaint with having them is the clear coat got crinkled when I installed my cable clamps. Other than that they look really nice. I heated them with a torch lighter and smoother the jacketing out and will apply clear nail polish to wear the seal broke.

Thanks, I talked to Barnett and they assured me it's chrome, it looks like zinc plating to me which does not hold up but I'm gonna use them. The Harley ones are not available for the older bikes that use the nut/screw to attach.

redmosquito1: The covering on my old cables got chewed up down where they bend to go under the tank, I removed the old coating and got some of this stuff. Worked pretty good and I now use a little piece of it where ever I put a clamp or wiretie.
