Default To rake or not rake?

I hae been thinking about raking out the bike and wanted to get some opinions. I have been thinking about a 5 or 7 degree rake. Im just not too sure if it is worth it or not. What say ye?

I have to be honest because i have been debating this myself. I have a softail slim and feel the wheel is to close to the chassis.... but the rake i wanted is exactly where your wheel lies. so maybe its just a matter of my fender and wheels.
in my opinion it looks good.

elizer, I saw a raked FL front end today and thought it looked pretty good. I don't think it would look good on a Heritage or a Deluxe, or even on a FB with the stock fender for that matter, but the one I saw looked sweet. You should seriously consider it.

It is all a matter of preference. Personally I think your bike looks awesome the way it sits, and I wouldn't rake it. It doesn't just change the look, it changes the ride, and not always for the better.

The most I would say to rake is 3 degrees fx models are already raked 2 degrees and come with 2 over stock front ends 24 3/4 long tubes think a few guys have 5 maybe on here most do 3 thou oh dont forget about trail and rake http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/advchoppercalc.html

I think it looks really good the way it is, but it's hard to say whether or not it could look better.
Me, I usually mock a change like that up in Photoshop, as a first step to deciding whether it's worth pursuing. Even if you need to pay someone to do it, it can be a whole lot cheaper than trial and error.
