Has anyone installed the LED FUEL GUAGE (specifically the skull one) for an 07 and if so how difficult (or easy) is it to install? The say on the box it is just a plug in for easy installation but when I look at my bike I can see no way to remove the old one and just simply plug in the new one???? Unless I am missing something?? It looks very difficult underneath the gas tank to get at anything with my big hands??????
Just uplug the plug that the old guage is pluged into, and pull the old guage out of the socket. Then you have to use a jewelers screwdriver to take apart the connector. I have read a lot about extra wires on this guage or something. I don't ahve it, but the beginning steps are easy...
i installed a kuryakyn led on my 2000 fat boy very simple just dissconected old guage and reconnected new one 10mins,sold the bike and kept the guage to fit on new 2007 softail custom ,very different job on the new inj, bikes i had to run a wire and splice onto a wire behind speedo. Tom England.

Bill,
I justinstalled one on my '07' FLSTC. I had the same problemtrying tofind the connector underneath the gas tank, due to the fact that it's a tight area to work in.I was even contemplating removing the gas tank.Instead, I just traced the wire coming out of the bottom of the gas tank from the old guage, and felt around for the connector. It seemed at first to be bundled with all the other wires under the tank, until I came across a plastic clip. Keepinga slight downward pressure on the gas guage wire, and with one finger, I pulled the plastic clip towards me, and the connector just dropped out of the bundle. There was enough slack in the wire to pop open the connector and hook up the new one. Very easy, although it didn't seem so at first. By the way, I see you live in Clark Summit, Pa. I used to live there40 years ago.
I had to unbolt my tank, Other than that piece of cake. untill u need to remove the yellow/white wire to connect the gray one. I made a small tool out of a small key ring worked great. They look very sharp.
