According to my factory service maintenance schedule, the plugs on my 2012 Heritage should be changed at 30,000 miles or two years, whichever comes first. I will check the plugs at each service interval though. If they appear to require changing, I will; otherwise I follow the maintenance schedule.
I changed my wires to braided plug wires within days of delivery. There are several places to get spark plug wires. One is below.
I check my plugs and there burning just fine !! When the time comes what kind of plugs and what heat rang is everyone running? I know the heat rang will very from state to state and motor but I can't seem to find out what the heat rang is that comes stock on my 09 Fat Boy! It's a bit warmer down here in FL in the summer than lets say NY. My stock plugs seem to be doing well so far. But then again I had mine tuned for here in stead of running lean from the factory.
Thanks for the help Bone Doc.
I like the looks of those wires!!
IM running NKG Plugs DCPR7Es and when I checked the gap was way off ( closed to much) maint. books said 38-42 and they were around 35?? Fixed now and looking at some new wires!!
Personally, I'll be keeping all ignition components stock to keep the ion-sensing detonation control system working properly. That's a really neat setup, and I'd hate to unintentionally disable it, or render it less effective.
