Default Power Vision cabling

Helping a friend with his PV cable install. What's the best way to route the cable from the data port to the handlebars on a 07 Deluxe? Is removing the tank required or can I do it another way?
Thanks!

I removed my tank to run it. You might be able to just unbolt the tank and lift it up enough to fish the line through but that seemed like more work to me than just removing the tank in the first place.

Just some food for thought.

I ran the cable under the tank of my Fatboy and have only mounted the PV on the bars once while I was doing an Autotune. Since I don't have the PV connected I was constantly worried about the connector getting wet and doing damage to my ECM. After a while I just disconnected the cable from the module. So now I have a cable run but not connected to anything.

Bottom line is if you not going to keep the PV on the bars you may just want to run the cable in a temporary fashion while you run your tunes and not under the tank.

You don't need to remove the tank...but you might have to remove the two rear mounting bolts so you can tilt the tank up for clearance to rout the wires thru the tunnel.

How would you run the cable temporarily and not burn it on the heads etc?

Duct tape it to bottom of tank. No problem.

On the Fatboy I just ran it out the front of the seat at the rear of the tank. Then on top of the tank to the bars. I did that before I ran it under the tank. It was completely visable on top but I only used it for a day or two.

You don't really need to mount the PV on the bars. Put it in your pocket or in a saddle bag, make your runs, flash your tune and remove it.

I'd recomend mounting it on the bars while doing AT runs. There's no way you can cover all the areas you need to hit on the map without being able to see what cells you are hitting or not hitting.
