Probably a simple answer, but can't figure out measuring handlebars
My left riser is chipped and they are 4" pullback risers. This gives me the perfect excuse to buy two new risers (1" or 2") and throw some 16" apes on. While looking for apes, I always assumed that my handlebars were 1 -1/4" but I need to order the risers first. So I'm about to purchase new risers, but how do I know if I need to replace my old risers with 1", 1-1/4" or 1-1/2"?
Thanks guy.
Also, I'm looking into getting the Wild 1 Chubby 16" apes if anyone has any experience with them?
If you are going with a new set of apes you should find the bars you want first. That will give you the diameter of the center mounting surface on the bars. i think most are 1". I think the chubbys you mentioned are 1" as well. Also check the clamping width to make sure the risers will line up on the bars where they should. All this info should be in the description of the bars online.
Hope this helps.

The thing is when I bought the bike, the PO gave me the drag bars that were mounted and beach bars. I don't want to get one inch ones and it be the wrong size for the drag and beach bars
Dividing your 4" circumference by Pi I came up with approximately 1 1/4", so you can go with that to begin with til you can get a caliper on them to make sure. Or tell me to take a flyin' leap at the moon.
Yep sounds like 1 1/4 " bars.
Do the control electrical wires feed inside the bars?
If so they are 1 1/4" bars.
Also in the latest Harley catalog the only 4" pull back risers Harley has is for 1 1/4" bars.

ah hah! I used a caliper and measured the bars under the top clamp of the risers. the bars are in fact 1 1/4". That sucks. I really wanted the Wild 1 Chubby 16" which come in 1" at the clamps
