... okay here's a dumb question.
Asked earlier about adding a Breakout to my Sportster for something different, but I didn't realize quite how stretched out the rider is. I'm only 5'6 (yeah.) and was wondering if the reduced reach seat and some different bars would make it comfortable for me?

Yeh I think your suggestion of getting on the Sportster 1200 rear 68T pulley, and replacing the Breakout 66T pulley is a fantastic idea. I see that in your photo and indeed it's a direct bolt on. Uses the same belt, better low end gear ratio, inexpensive part, what's not to like??
PN 40354-07 for 2007 and up XL 1200, and of course a new set of bolts (cannot re-use old bolts they are specifically torqued one time and that's it.) I think the bolts are 7 1/6 x 5 x 2" - or maybe it's PN 40518-07 - I gotta research this.
Saves me a lot of time with swapping the front pulley. I was not at all looking forward to pulling the primary.

Alright so here's the scoop on the Sportster 1200 68T pulley and bolts:
2011 XL1200 pulley PN 40444-07 (black, like the 1st photo in Dynaunder's post) or PN 40350-07 which is chrome Retail $197
Sportster bolts are 7/16 - 14 x 1-3/4" PN 3899 hex bolt with lock patch $1 each
Breakout bolts are 7/16 - 14 x 2-5/8" PN 3109 hex cap bolt with washer / lock patch $2 each
I think the center 5 bolt hole areas on the sportster pulley are thinner than the Breakout, hence the shorter length bolts.

I was thinking to drill and tap copper fitting to the crome cups and a internal connetting rubber tube on the high flow breather some braided lines and for enviromental reason have a canister to catch the oil and condensation overflow.

Thought I would post this up since there has not been much discussion about this mod for Softails. This is the easiest and cheapest way to lower the gearing to what the touring bikes have on late model Softails. My bike is a Softail Slim so my experience may not be the same for other models. All 07 and up Sportsters have a 68T pulley. The difference in part numbers is for the color and style. The stock pulley has a 1/4 inch thicker mounting flange but the Sportster mounting flange is offset 1/4 inch further in so the overall fitment was a wash. So I did not need a spacer. Different models and bikes with cast wheels might so measure to make sure. My upper and lower belt guards fit fine and the belt was easy to get on. What you will need is 5 7/16 x 14 x 2 inch grade 8 bolts and washers. The stock bolts will be too long and the washers dont come off the stock bolts. You also need a 12 point 1/4 inch socket and a 40 torx socket to remove the brake caliper and pads. Hope this is some help to anyone considering this mod.

well prolly me- shopping around right now. best price I found so far is $157 new. might as well give it a try since I was planning to pull my rear wheel anyway to put in the factory security system BCM
