Really hard to catch the paint in photos- it is a deep black with candy pearl- in the sun it pops very 3-d on the paint with blue / silver crystals. in photos it just looks boring black.
The oil tank and dash strip on gas tank are real, hand-laid carbon fiber with 5 layers of gloss coat. came out sick

Looks good Dog
Kinda like a roided dyna

I had a 2003 American ironhorse with a ness y2k frame

Is that a puke can that I see at the lower front right side of the frame?
LOL yep this particular model used the Daytec FXR-style frame. the bike handles like its on rails. the inverted forks were sourced from Mean Street Choppers in NYC. I like this model because it's a good riding bike not like the fat *** straight-line choppers.

Yep puke can was there during break in. baby had a lot of top-end breather blow-by until the rings fully sealed. pushing over 9.6:1 dynamic compression and she's built to hit high revs. my averaged dyno runs put me at 120hp / 130tq, and I've got 100tq right off the line by 1500rpm. beast for a 107!

I have a "baby" catch can under the bike now, she'll only blow a bit of oil out the breathers if I'm hitting back to back high speed WOT runs. goes with the territory.

thanks for taking some pics i was considering a set of those turn signals in black.

The oval plates are "dyna recess plates", I'm having trouble finding them online but I know revzilla sells them, I bought locally.

The signals fit really well and the plates sit almost like they were made for this strut, gotta get the hard mounted shorter stems when you buy the signals though, they come with rubber mounts which is nice if you bump into them but looks significantly worse. You'll have to cut a couple threads off the stems to fit behind the struts too but other than that it all works out well.

For what it's worth I think they'd look really good on your bike, the rhombus ones would look right at home with the theme you've got going.

Hi To you all, ..been a long time lurker and been on the lookout for a breakout for the last 12 months... had a few Japanese bikes before this mainly 1000cc sports bikes. Just been out and bought myself a Breakout in Black and its a thing of beauty!!!... will be changing a few bits and pieces on it over time including maybe a new back fender shortened and strut-less
one quick question... how did you guys feel when you went from a sportsbike to a Breakout? ...i'm finding the transition a bit hard to get used to

Not the answer to your question I know but I am just about to do the same, I had a gsxr 600 for last 9 years. one summer without a bike and miss it like mad.. but I don't want another sports bike. I love the breakout look and stlye and want something that's more chilled out, comfortable and sounds great.

While both are bikes, that's about where the similarities end. I transition fairly regularly, and it is a completely different riding style and experience. Personally, I like both style bikes for different reasons and depending on my mood. As long as you embrace the less aggressive cornering and more laid back riding style (not to say you can't get on it), I think you'll quickly adapt to the Breakout and like it.

Welcome and congrats on the Breakout. I have mostly owned sport and race bikes since I was 16. Riding a "typical" HD is just a different riding experience. you will find that you need to adjust your braking and cornering methods accordingly. HD's are great bikes, just a different type of bike. A lot of guys have both a sport bike and a cruiser.

My first "hog" was a Dyna, and then after that, a custom chopper designed along the lines of the FXR / Dyna - both bikes had better handling and braking and a lot of upgrades. this helped me transition a bit better from my sport-bike riding style.

Off the showroom floor, the Breakout has poor cornering clearance and a washy front end, and not so great tires. those are the only weak points other than ditching the stock pipes and putting a stage1 better tune to get a bit more HP/TQ. if you upgrade the front end springs, add good dampers and put on better tires it will improve everything by 100%. I guess it really depends on how you plan to ride the Breakout. I ride mine hard. Some guys just putt and everything is peachy, no change needed. if you intend to ride yours on the more aggressive side, look into these upgrades as you'll have a lot more fun on the Breakout as well as an increased margin of safety.

Just be careful and take your time getting use to it. your braking distance will be much reduced compared to what you are accustomed to. the aforementioned upgrades will help a lot with that too. See the sticky at the top of the Softail forum for upgrade parts, info.

that's where i was 12 months ago! ... another sports bike just wasn't an option, the last 3 have looked and ridden the same and i was sick of just pulling on the throttle and the enjoyment was over. that to me was all sports bikes had to offer.
now i have the breakout i want to ride and take in the feel noise and style of a big bruiser like the BO.
hopefully the fun will begin or i'm done with bikes forever lol
