I was flipping the coin with 57H on one side and 204 on the other. My HD Dealer would provide either at the very same cost. My Dealer offered that, installed by them, neither cam would present a warranty problem but, all things being equal, a SE part installed by a HD certified tech would be an easier proposition for them should a warranty claim arise.

Couldn't see sense in potentially making things harder than they needed to be and couldn't be happier with my choice. "204 all day long" .

^^ Yes, tons of good feedback from riders w/ stock or stage 1 and 204 or 57h cams. I can't see going wrong with either one.

Exactly the same thoughts here....the warranty issue was one of the major reasons to choose a HD/SE bolt-in cam.

I'll sell you my 57h cams as soon as I get my bike back dog. I ran into a little snag with the parts I bought from my buddy. Pistons were bad so I was in a spot of just sticking with the 57h and put back together basically stock otherwise. But after it was already tore apart I decided to go bigger and I'm waiting on the machinist to get my jugs bored. Going 107" now. They are brand new, never used. Only opened to make sure they were the correct cams. I'm hoping to have it back within the next week or so.

LA Dog, if your thinking of going with the 204, you should compare it to the 37h, similar specs to the 204 including lift, 508 vs 510 with the 37h. The 57h has basically the same specs as the 37 but with a 560 lift. Still a great choice I'm sure..

yeh thanks Rocker- I been kicking around cam specs and for a stock motor I'm liking the 38 intake close event of the 57H vs the 34 of the 204. Durations are the same. 57h would fit how I ride better and also fit the rpm shift / quicker rev up given by the shorter ratio belt pulleys. Heck I could even go with a 40 intake close and still get into the power band quickly, but I would want to start bumping compression at that point. I see why a lot of guys like the 204 because TQ comes on earlier and helps compensate for the stock too tall gearing when hitting it off the line. it's a good drop in if nothing else is to be modified.

cool brother I appreciate the thought. sorry to hear about the "upgrade to a 107" - punk! lol - anyway great way to make lemonade out of a lemon situation.

hit me via pm and we can chat further.

Ya, that's why I chose the 37h over the 204, I also liked the intake close at 38, which it has, I just wasn't sure about the 560 lift of the 57h in my otherwise stock motor, so went with the 37, but as you know I'm very happy with the results!!

don't get the SERT. you'll be shooting yourself in the foot. all of HD's tuning maps are "epa compliant", including stage1 maps. absolutely horrible.

you don't need to spend money ($500 or more) on a one time dyno tune unless you are going to change motor components like cams + heads + cubic inches + throttle body / injectors.

get a Powervision, V&H Fuel Pack, TTS MasterTune - much better by far. the "ultimate" is the Powervision plus the Target Tune wide band O2 add on.

JMHO-

Thanks for the advise! I think I will be going with the Powervision after researching it.

Thanks again.

yep I hear you on that- 560 should be plenty fine, IIRC the stock heads support up to 590 (off top of my head I could be remembering that incorrectly)- but I know 560 is within tolerable limits. but on a stock motor I don't think there would be much noticeable difference between the 37/57.
