You need to find out if it does or does not have a security system installed , believe the red key light coming on and goin out at start up is just a bulb check.

Red light is normal -
If the bike starts up and runs without a FOB then you do not have a security system.

The bike can run without a fob. You can disarm the alarm system by pushing a sequence of buttons. Im still waiting for my fob from my dealer too.

So, how can I find out whether or not my bike is truly equipped with an alarm?

Are you sure? You should be able to buy 2 or 3 complete system at that price....
