Have never heard of heat ruining a Harley engine but have heard that it will fairly quickly.Not planning on changing exhaust or pipes they say engines now are designed to take the heat no worrys.Any thoughts 07 nightster
Hard to post what I want to say but not planning on stage one upgrade because of heat related issues have heard from folks motors wont last unless stage one done.Harley techs have told me the motors are made to take the heat from the emission controls anyone hear differently?
No worries on heat ruining your motor, no stage, stage 1-3 its all good. Mines bored,stroked, pretty much the whole nine yards and the temp tomorrow is scheduled to be 107,no probs yet,had it for 4 yrs.
No worry about the heat, it will automatically shut down if it gets "too" hot. \\;\\\\\\; You might experience that in heavy, slow, stop &\\;\\\\\\; go traffic. \\;\\\\\\; You need about 35 MPH for proper air cooling. \\;\\\\\\; I spent about 25 mins in stop and go the other night, in the rain, after dark, and my only worries were the smell of my flesh burning...and the idiot cagers merging from three lanes to one. \\\\\\; the engine was fine!

Hang on, they'll shut down if they start to actually seriously overheat? \\; [sm=confused06.gif]
"V-Twin air-cooled motors are notorious for overheating in stop and go traffic. This is especially true of Harley-Davidsonâs twin cam fuel injected models that are designed to shut down before the motor locks up."
sporty evo isn't a twinkie though...  \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
Yeah, it hit me over lunch that my Touring brain was engaged in the Sportster forum...thanks for being gentle.
LOL. \\; No worries, and it may be we have the same thing, I'm just trying to find out (would be some piece of mind for when I get stuck in traffic with 105 degree heat).
