Default CV carb acceleration pump?

May be a stupid question just want to make sure Im putting the black round rubber acceleration pump Diaphragm in correctly? I would assume that the side with the ridge fits in on the ridge on the carb?? my bike used to have the original CV carb with no pump and ran great just seems not to run as good with the pump takes longer to warm up.Has anyone ever removed the pump lever and spring and ditch the pump? or is this not advisable? just curious Ive heard of people who have.

The diaphragm should have a 'lip" on it for it fit on one side of the carb (has a groove) but not sure side.

Can't answer your other question.

Default Diaphragm

So the lip would go in the grove side I would guess?

Not an option...

If you didn't have an accelerator pump the bike would be difficult to start cold, maybe even impossible.

You would stall / stumble on take off when the pump must give the bike an extra squirt of gas to get it to rev up and run faster.

Also you would have a big stumble when you want to pass, or speed up to enter an expressway.

My old carb dident have one and ran fine so I belive the bike would start because the pumps not engaged until you pull the throttle back ill have to test it

A lot of older metric bikes don't have accelerator pumps and they run just fine.

Glad it's working for you.

It just seems odd to me to not have the advantage of accelerator pump on a carbed motor vehicle. If a non accelerator pump carb works right for you then ... Ride On!
