Default Switches

So, with everything striped down I plan on relocating the turns, horn and changing to a standard car style key ignition with no kill switch.

I have the wiring diagram but my question is what wires I need to connect to the new key ignition?

Also for the turn signals has anybody used or know of a switch that toggles in both directions but only to actuate, not stay in that position or am I going to need to do 2 separate switches for left/right turn.

That is kind of tough to explain it all on here, do you have a wiring diagram for your bike?

You can get a switch that does what you want, you will probably need a 2 pole 3 position momentary switch. You can try Radio Shack or Newark.com

Yeah, single pole-double throw momentary switch for the turns. They'll only work while you have the switch "on" unless you're keeping your auto-canceller.

I have the full diagram for the bike, I'm just not sure if I need to relocate the kill switch wire and the start button wire to the newer auto ignition lock or just delete those wires.

I may actually keep the start button and hide that somewhere so only I can start the bike( with relative ease)

mreed- I plan on keeping the auto cancel feature module, that's why I wanted something that was kind of like a trim tab toggle for a boat where you can switch either direction but it returns to center when released.

Maybe this? Wire your run/stop switch so that it is always on run, leave your key switch wired the way it is and replace your starter end cap with this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Harley-Chrom...item256bb96e0d

Turn key on, push the new button on your starter then turn the key off to shut the bike off.

Thats a pretty cool solution. Which brings up a point (sorry, here I go hijacking again) why do we need a key switch, run switch and start switch? Why not just put it all in one like cars have, or hell even my lawnmower has?

Law. Bikes must be "produced" with a handlebar mounted kill switch. Same thing with the pointless 2nd throttle cable.

To my understanding, the 2nd throttle cable was the back up just in case the spring didn't pull the carb closed and left you at wide open. You just turn the throttle the other way and pull it closed.
