Hi folks, just a quick comment about the 50th anniversary editon of the sportster. The first year it was in production was 1957. That first year counts as a production year, so doing the math, wouldn't a 2006 be the 50th production year rather than the 2007? What are your thoughts?
By your calculations I should have been 50 in 2005 ... go figure !!!
actually you were working on your 50th year in 2005 ... the way we count is at teh END of a completed year .... ie: newborns are '0' years old for the entire 1st year - then when they turn 1 they are immediately working on their 2nd year)
But we're talking "50th Anniversary" , so think of it like a marriage instead of birthdays then.
You celebrate your 1st wedding anniversary exactly 1 year after being married for the whole year.
If you married in 1957 your 50th anniversary would be in 2007, not 2006.

You celebrate your 1st BIRTHDAY(wedding anniversary) exactly 1 year after being BORN(married) for the whole year.
If you BORN(married) in 1957 your 50th BIRTHDAY(anniversary) would be in 2007, not 2006.
