Not missing anything. Take a look at the pic. If I trim off to the line, the pad and plate will be able to slide to the left just enough ..

Okay, so I take it you're not re-using the rubber OEM pad, but one that bolts on. Have you tried fitment to see if the brake lever arm that comes up to the pad won't interfere with the pad you'll be using when you slide it to the left and bolt it down? Why not just cut the whole pad area off, drill a hole in the arm, and mount the foot peg of your choice to it?

If he cuts the whole pad area off, he will have the cut side on the outside, I would think to cut the inside/left side of the pad closest to the break arm to have the cut side hidden or flush against the break arm.

If this will work.

Will I then need to bleed the break when I re-install it? I could not find a return spring that pushes the pedal back so I am assuming the pressure in the cylinder pushes it back.
I attached a pic.
Thanks

I think the notches in the pedal and the corresponding bumps inside the rubber pedal cover will be your biggest sticking point. The pedal will bulge out once past the notches. I have an older style pedal cover. It's about half the width. It bolts on. I think you could make one of those work. I thought about it, but never executed a plan.

I thought about cutting it off just to the left of the notch. Then trimming top and bottom off so the old style pedal cover would bolt on.

Excuse the crappy graphics....

If you replace it with a Softbrake pedal, you'll have more room without cutting anything and it make using the brake a whole lot easier.
