Default 2014 SGS Engine Longevity

I've got a 2014 Street Glide Special. I ride the dickens out of it clocking about 24000 miles in a year and no issues whatsoever yet. No oil burning or anything on a weeklong, all day, 80 degree, 75 mph on the interstate type riding. I maintain it meticulously, but I am a little concerned honestly about engine longevity coming from a metric sport-touring background. What's the expected engine life on these 103s? Anybody else accumulating high miles on their 103 or seeing any issues?

They'll go 24,100 easily.
There's been no known serious issues to date with the 96's or 103's.
Just stay on top of it maintenance wise.

you are doing it right...

The big twins run up over 100K all the time- not that the typical rider is using the bike as much as you are.

Avoiding temptation to try to make it faster will pay back with reliability.

depends who you ask. for the most part, the 09+ touring bikes are pretty reliable. if you take good care of it, it should easily last over 80k with minimal headaches. its hard to gauge though, some folks have ridden their bikes over 100k with no issues, some folks consider themselves lucky if they can get 10k without having to see a shop. good luck to ya

If you run synthetic with regular oil/filter changes (not the 7,500 mile intervals either) it should easily last well past 100,000 miles or even longer.

When the twin cam 88 first came out, it was touted as a 100,000 mile engine. The poor design of the cam chain tensioners has changed that but if those are changed or hydraulics put in, it should easily do 100 grand. The quality of materials and design shows it is built to last. Most problems are a poorly made part failing or more usually abuse.

You'll be fine, keep doing what you're doing. There will be NO difference in engine life using synthetic oil. Just keep calm and carry on.

Leaving engine internals stock and frequent oil changes is the key to long engine life in my opinion.
