WB, looks like you ordered the rear sprocket that should help! I used Evolution's Industries 30 tooth primary sprocket to tighten up the gear ratio's on my 07 SG, also put Baker Drive train Attitude Adjustor in the primary. The self tightening stock Harley chain tensioner gets to tight and causes problems with the engine and transmission bearings, plus you pick up 3 to 4 pound-feet of torque. Probably too late for your upgrade, good luck with the rear sprocket change, it will help! Saw the EV upgrade in Baggers magazine April 2015.
I have decent low end power. I am lacking is at speed (70+) bucking and head wind two up. Noticed the stock 103HO, also two up I was riding with made a hiway pass and I knew I didn't have time or the passing power to make the move. Is that to be expected?
Exhaust might help, gearing will help more but keeping up with a 103HO will require more compression and cubes than your 96 has, especially riding 2up into a headwind. Also, I might be wrong but doesn't a 68T rear simply get you to the stock 09-up gearing? Stock, 09-up 96's are over geared and underpowered as well so make sure you do your homework here. Big Boyz head porting has a calculator that you can use to see the differences. It's more involved but you will gain more gear ratio with a 30 tooth front sprocket.

on an 07-08 first order of business is to get the 68t on. Then if more revs are desired then a guy can go 31t or even 30t trans pulley with the bonus of keeping the stock belt fitted. Keep in mind the op has a 255 cam so he may neither need or want more revs than the 68t rear pulley gives.
Not looking to be the fastest or most powerful bike in the pack, Just wanna be able to have the passing power when needed. Thanks for all the replies and help with this problem. Installed new spark plugs yesterday and the power was a night and day difference.. By the way, don't drink drink the Auto-lite Koolaid.. They suck!!!!!!
Got the 68 tooth sprocket installed tonight and took a very short ride,, No highway riding but I can say 1st gear is night and day.. Actually moves off the line without riding the clutch. Torque is their also!!!!! Broke her loose a couple of times when I hammered on it.

My Power Vision will take care of the calibration. Just have to make the correct adjustments. Open up your tune (*.pvt file). Under the 'Gear' folder you'll find the 'Speedometer Calibration' table. This table has only one value, that being 'PPU'. Adjust this value slightly one way or the other until your speedo matches your GPS.
Well we took a 200 mile trip today and all I can say is my setup is spot on.. Runs great thru all gears.. Day and night difference.. Not real sure the 103 has an advantage anymore!!!!!
