Weird how people are against chaps. They protect your legs exponentially better than any kind of jean, and they cut out the cold better too. And they're super convenient. I get to where I'm going, I zip them off, roll them up and stuff them in the saddle bag. I'll take the warmth and protection and give zero ****s about how I look.

+1 I'm a huge fan of chaps, well said.

but I have had a guilty chuckle or two watching somebody have a real hard time putting them on, and I know a guy who sent five pairs back via mail order because "none of the sizes were even close to the right length" LOL

Lol, chaps are awesome ... until you watch someone grocery shop and not leaving them on the bike!!

You'll never find them the right size regarding length, easier to cut them to size. I did that 15 years ago and I still wear them every winter.

Im looking for a place in Florida now and can't wait. I took an hour ride today here in CT 40 degrees and had cold upper legs and fingers. It's move to Florida or 2017 will be heated gloves and chaps.

Schampa warm skins under my jeans and i am good in low 40's high 30's any colder i wear my heated liners under fleece lined jeans and legs are fine. For upper body i wear a good leather jacket not no 100 dollar jump off with schampa warm skins and a tee. I am good to low 40's. Any colder i just wear a thin long sleeve my heated jacket and my good leather.
Oh and heated gloves come out in 30's in 40's i wear eather gloves with a good thin lining.

With all the plug in heated gear i can ride in any temps and not feel bulky. I use a dual controller and keep my pants and socks on one zone and my jacket and gloves on another. I also have the battery powered heated gear. It is good but nothing like the wired stuff.

Leather shops are the only way to go IMO. I found a set of chaps I liked that were the proper length, and the leather smith made everything else fit. Now I have the perfect set of chaps for me.

Wear your rain gear. Nothing will keep the wind out better. In low temps the air flow is your greatest enemy.
