Great choice, hopefully you enjoy yours as much I do mine! Black and black gonna be some work to keep clean.

That's the price we pay for having the best color.

Hey.. New to these forums.. I put a deposit down on either a Road King or Road King Special.. I can't decide which one I want. The reason I'm torn is because I want the ability to do some longer rides with the wife on weekends (200-300 miles). During the week it would be mostly local cruising and work commutes. I love the look of the RKS and I really like the bars and ergos.

For the RKS, I would be adding a windshield (22"? - I'm 5'9"), a back rest, passenger floor boards and maybe a more comfortable seat. For the RK, I wouldn't really have to add anything except the back rest, but I'd be missing out on the look that I love.

I'm worried about overall comfort with a passenger and also wind buffeting.

I'm 5'9" about 185lbs, shes 5' about 105lbs. If anyone has any input, I'd be grateful.

Depending what you are coming off of I think you may be surprised at the comfort of the RKS. I traded my 13 Road Glide on my RKS and found the overall comfort to be much improved. The suspension is definitely better. The power is improved. I am also about 5'9" 180 and use a 15" Memphis Slim, but would recommend a Memphis Fats 19 or 21. The reason I went with the Memphis is that they sell the quick release docking brackets already powder-coated black. My wife finds the stock passenger pegs quite comfortable. I would prefer a set of bars that brings the reach a little closer, but do not want to spend the money right now. I definitely get a lot of compliments on the look of the bike.

Thank a lot for your input. Currently I own a Vulcan 900 (which I dont ride very much) and a 2015 Yamaha FZ-07. Before the Vulcan, I'm coming off of 15 years of sportbikes (CBR600R, GSXR750, R1, 636, 600RR, ZX-10r, and a Z1000)..

Honestly, I always felt that sportbikes were more comfortable for 3-4 hours rides at highway speeds (60-90Mph), which is why I'm struggling to enter the cruiser world. The wife can't comfortably sit 2-up on a sportbike for that long though. That, and I'm getting older and aside from doing track days, I don't see a supersport as my daily rider. I'm really starting to love the creature comforts for longer rides, and the rough and tough look of the more aggressive Harleys for the local around town 20-30 mile stop and go rides. That's why I'm thinking the Road King Special would be the perfect combination.

I also own a 2006 900 Vulcan Classic, which my son still rides. The RKS is much more comfortable, than the Vulcan (I would get Psorassesis after riding the Kawi for an hour), and handles much better to boot. 2-300 mile rides will be a pleasure for you on a RKS.

Haha.. yea, that's why I don't ride the Vulcan much.. That ****in seat is BRUTAL.. 30 minutes on NY roads and im numb. It takes an hour just to ride off Long Island and find worthwhile roads, so the Vulcan = No Thanks.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your input. I think I'm going to end up pulling the trigger on the special within the next week. Can't ride it for another month or so anyway :/ ...
