If the inner primary is coming off for the leak, there are a whole lot of parts coming off and going back on. Did the indy give you a breakdown down of what he is going to do. Most dealers are near $80-$100 an hour, so if he is near that it's your call. I would hold him to 10% of his estimate.
I replaced my clutch pack with an Energy One kevlar +1 kit with a heavy duty spring. Cost was about $120 for the clutch, $20 for fluid and $35 for the outer gasket. Labor, for my first time changing a Harley clutch, including adjustment and test rides was about 3 hours. I would expect a dealer tech to at least cut that in half. So, $300-$400 fo that much. I don't know what is involved with fixing your leak but you're half way there having the outer and clutch pack apart so $600-$700 extra seems a bit steep to me. But like I said, I don't really know what else is involved so i could be wrong.

I remember those days..... Labor rates are why I learned to do my own maintenance/repairs....
Around here, in SoCal, most were at $120/hour last I checked about 2 years ago.......
Yeah .. I'm gonna go with cool breeze. Some of you guys know I had alot of probs with my last M8. I intend to ride the dealership train for a while. See If their fixed really apply ... if I have alot of the same issues as the last time .. I'm not gonna screw around. I'm going to get a rebuild ... maybe zippers in Maryland. But at this point that's drastic. I'll see if the vent works for this particular issue.

Im thinking the forum has that issue again where posts are winding up in wrong threads. Second one Ive seen in a few days that dont belong.
New to this community, but not the Shark! Just wondering if you folks think that I'm being over charged by a local independent mechanic for this:
1. Ordering and replacing Clutch Pack Kit with Barnett Clutch Pack.
2. Inner Primary had a leak, so ordering main gasket and replacing.
I got quoted for $990 which I think might be equivalent to the Stealership. Any thoughts?
It's for my RG Custom 2010.
Thanks!
Clutch 600
Gaskets 40
fluid 15
Labor 335. Guessing about 3 hours which everything sounds totally fair to me. Now if you arent getting the scorpion kit and just a plate/disc set, then yes the price seems high.
Nothing in the primary is complicated....its really quiet simple in there.
If a person has any mechanical skills....buy the service manual. Even if you have to go out and buy a special socket....youre still ahead.
For $900.......Id rather spend that on gas and tires. Certainly not anything in the primary. If I was far away from home traveling....$900 might be different.
