I put a set of Screaming Eagle slip ons on my bike about a month ago along with the Screaming Eagle stage 1 air filter I also had the bike flashed at the time. I have since put about 4,000 miles on the bike. The exhaust is possibly a little throatier and the added throttle response is definitely there. I asked the dealer what riders were doing on the Screaming Eagles to get the deeper sound, he said that with the 2007's the sound does not change much and that there is nothing that can be done to them. Has anyone done anything with the Screaming Eagles on the the new 96" motor.
I also have an 05' 883 Sporty and stock pipes that were drilled and the sound is much better than the Road King
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
Hey HDRK DUDE - What is flashed ??? Have I missed something ??? I also put the SE pipes on my 07 FLHTC and they are a little louder on the highway going over 50 mph it seems. Hope you get some responses / I'm curious if there is a fix for this. Bill
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
ECM is flashed w/stage 1 download. SE's are what they are now. Not as loud, but legal. If you want louder HD is not the way to go. Personally i would like it louder, but wife rides with me and wants it mellow so SE's is it... for now. They do get a nice rumble as they age, have 10,000 miles on mine, but they are not LOUD. Personally i think they breathe better than stock, since performance improved.
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
Thanks guy's,
I heard a set of the Rinehart true duals on an 07' and it blew me away. The dealer told me that if I put them on the 07' the engine warranty was instantly over. The wife was with me when he made that statement and the cancled warranty idea did not sit well with her. I wish that I had done a little more inquiring on these slip ons. My bike has just shy of 13,000 on it, hopefully it will start to burn out some of the packing. At least I have saved my buddies from wasting some serious cash[:@]
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
It will not void your warrenty. Only if it can be proved that it caused the damage to the part that is in warrenty question. I got the 103 stage II, which would have come with the SE slip ons, but I went with Rush.
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
I just added the SEs to my 07 RKC. The two-piece 64985-07. A little throatier when you get on it but... could have used a little more volume.
Wouldn't you know it, a few day after I buy mine, HD comes out with 64985-07A, "baffles redesigned for a more muscular sound" (or something like that). Damn! Now I'm wondering how hard to it is to remove the baffles in what I have and do some reenginerring of my own. I'm not looking for a lot more, just a little. Will be verycurious to hear more about these. Bet HD was getting beat up pretty good on the originals.
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
Well I heard from a guy in the exhaust forum and he has a 07' and he had done a little work on the baffles. He said that it made the exhaust tone more distinct but not over powering. He gave me a few tips on the exhaust and I went to work on it. Mine had 3 rivets in the baffle that needed to be drilled out. The baffle is a devil to get loose from muffler. I used some super penetrating spray and a 36" long 1/2" pipe with a coupler on it to drive the baffle free. I drilled about 10, 1/4" holes in the metal piece covering the exhaust. I have the bike back together but I still need to torque the bolts, it was getting too dark to do that. I am going to do that first thing in the morning and see how it performs.
If the bike falls flat on it's face then I will toss the stock cans back on the bike. My wife told me to go ahead and go with the Rinehart's or Vance & Hines true duals if this experiment doesn't pan out. Then I am going to go with one of the fuel packs. For what the dealer charged to do the flash upgrade for the stage 1 air cleaner I could have purchased a fuel pack[:@]
