I put a set of Screaming Eagle slip ons on my bike about a month ago along with the Screaming Eagle stage 1 air filter I also had the bike flashed at the time. I have since put about 4,000 miles on the bike. The exhaust is possibly a little throatier and the added throttle response is definitely there. I asked the dealer what riders were doing on the Screaming Eagles to get the deeper sound, he said that with the 2007's the sound does not change much and that there is nothing that can be done to them. Has anyone done anything with the Screaming Eagles on the the new 96" motor.
I also have an 05' 883 Sporty and stock pipes that were drilled and the sound is much better than the Road King
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
Remove the baffles from your SE's and drill more holes in them or cut the baffles. I cut mine where they are squished together right about at the halfway point of the squish. This made the shape of a D and allowed more flow and a much, much better sound.
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
That was a concern of mine and I thought I may need to do some tuning with my SERT. I have checked 3 times over about 750 miles and all is well with the plug color. No popping on decel...simply one of the best mods on the SE's for me as they were to quiet but I did not need to rattle teeth.
Once you have your slip ons off and remove the two nuts and bolts holding the baffle in. Take a long screw driver or a metal bar and tap them out. They are in tight but will come out. Wish I would have taken pictures but I didn't think about it at the time. Also the head on the little bolts are those "anti-theft" torx. I used a pair of pliers to hold the head and open end wrench on the nut. Few cuss words and it's all good.
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
Thanks again BadMo,
My Screamers had 3 rivets holding the baffle in, I have them drilled out now and will attempt to tap them out. They are really snug, thanks for the heads up on tight fit. I was starting to think that there might be some other thing holding them in there.
I am going to experiment with these and hopefully get the results that you have gotten. Rineharts might be in the near future with a fuel pak.
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
I did exactly like BadMo except I also added thunder monster baffles in the header pipes. Made the eagle baffles straight thrus and drilled more holes in em as well. Bike sounds better, goes better, and saved me a shitload of bucks. The baffles are a little tricky to get out, soak em with CRC or any other lubricant and they come out easier.
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
Thanks for the input, a special thanks to BadMO,
What a noticeable improvement both sound and performance A+++++++ My bike feels like it gained5 or a littlemiles per hour in 5th. My bike used to take 6th at around 60 now it is liking the 65 or a little higherSound is greatI am going to try tweaking it a little more, keeping an eye on the plug color. I like my bike to sound a little louder than a Gold Wing
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
I had the Screaming Eagle slip ons put on when I bought my 07 night train. Had I known what they sounded like I would have saved myself a couple of hundred bucks and just knocked the baffles out of the stock pipes. Which is exactly what I did to the Screaming Eagles when I got it home, thank God for 3/4" allthread.
RE: Screaming Eagle slip on with the 2007 engine??
I've got an 07 ultra and have both sets of the slip ons, regular slash cut and the other set with the interchangeable end caps.
The slash cuts have a completely different internal baffle and I love the way they sound,
the others with the end caps are ok, nice seat of the pants torque, but not the same sound.
