Chuckle, the “expert” advice of optimal windshield height is capricious and anything but expert. The various claims alone should be warning enough; between the nose tip and upper lip, between the lips, between the eyes and the chin, etc.

The warning given about settling on the seat first is good. I’d also add bars, boards and backrest. Once you’ve figured out where you’re placing your body and head, you can start figuring out what to do about wind protection and buffeting.

Let your own preferences do some dictating. If you happen to like looking through the windshield, don’t let others make you not. Or visa versa.

Experiment with some cardboard and duct tape, make a set of fangs, a lower deflector, a raised upper lip, etc. This can help you zero in on what actually works for you, on your bike, where you sit.

What works for me on my bike (I’m a bit dwarfish, with short limbs) could make a basketball player miserable. His head would not be where mine is.

Consider too legally. For example, in my state, a windshield that is 2” above my eyes means I don’t need to wear eye protection. Personally, I like that. Others may not care.

Looks like they have street glide now, is that compatible?

Also I just came across Rifle windshields, seems to be a similar design philosophy and it looks like you can order em with a vent. Vents are interesting. Some RK drivers have had success with HD's vented screen, just gotta get it set correctly. Want the air directed up, along the inside surface, rather than back toward your face. Something I learned to appreciate back in my sailing days, long story but it should work, one would think

Solid advice there IMO. All the way around. Researching this stuff I spent a little time on Ducati and BMW forums, I was amazed the extent to which some of those dudes were riding around with carboard flaps, wings, spoilers duct-taped to their windscreens. One guy even put vortex generators on his windscreen.

At any rate, if we are looking at screens that don't have a lot of complex trailing edge curves, there's an argument for ordering taller than you think you need and see how you like it, You can stick your hand up in the windflow, see where it is and how clean it is (if you feel a pulsing or vibrating sensation, that's turbulence)

I just looked again, and do not see the street glide listed. Is it with the HD section?

The only downside of looking thru, to me, is when its full of bugs. No way do I want a full face of wind and bugs, I am long past that being remotely enjoyable.

A rag and a bottle of Pledge or such should be standard issue with the tool kit. :-)

I keep rags and a spray can of invisible glass in left side, right with tool kit, just for this reason.
