I really like my toe / heal shifter but with size 13 boots it gets a little tight. Often time my heal shifter rubs the back of my boot when Im downshifting on the toe. Also, Im thinking that eliminating the heal shifter would be easier on my linkage. I just replaced my rear shifter to tranny arm last year and Ive had to retighten it already.
I had tried a long heal shifter a while back but I took it off worried that it was too much leverage on my linkage. It was a cheap one and was real heavy.
Any thoughts.
I also have a size 13, 2013 Ultra Classic.. I came from a 2016 Kaw Vaquero and that floor board set up was much better with the heel/toe, there was more room and the heel shifter didn't "seem" to get in the way.. On this bike.. My heel is right up against the heel shifter, kind of feels trapped in there. So this weekend I am removing the heel shifter.. Before my foot does get jammed in there and it causes me an issue..
Otherwise I dig the bike, the Vaquero I liked the ride better, but it was more made for 1-up riding and I rode that bike hard through the mountains of WV..
This bike, the GF loves it, it is very comfy for her.. So I am make adjustments for me to fix the issues that will make it a better handling mountain road machine.. Removing that heel shifter will help.. I'm 6'4 285.. I need my room..
Actually the heel shifter will allow you to shift with a minimum amount of force. All shifts are down with just the weight of your foot dropping on the lever. Keep the rubber spacer compressed and you will not have any shifter linkage problems.
I have this one, too. Came with the bike. Really like it.
