I bought that kit and keep it onboard but haven't had to use it yet. Compared to the rope style, how did you like it?
Worked great for me. Liked that I didnt have to ream a larger size hole than that was already there. Pulled this nail and inserted plug same direction. Worked on first try and have not had any pressure loss in a few months. Had luxury of being on lift at home.
I have not used rope plugs.

I wouldn't run it long term but I would do it assuming it was a tubeless tire in a pinch.
I can say this: I'd rather ride with the rattiest looking tire plug ever installed than an old tire. I recently bought a second bike and discovered the tires were 9 and 7 years old; both were replaced immediately.
It's very similar to the rope style, but has the brass tips to easily go into the tire. Each plug is a smidge slimmer IMO but work just as good. The rear tire puncture I had was from a good size nail and I used 2 plugs. I like the wide end for better leverage in getting the plugs into the tire. I used a soapy water to check for any leaks afterwards, as well as the next day and all was good. The Avon tires only had about 2500 miles when I got the nail, and the plugs lasted until I replaced the tires at the wear bars.
I also carry one of these cordless tire inflator. I like that the chuck locks onto the valve stem, easy on easy off.
Yup...... I bought the Air Moto to take with me on trips like my last one. I love that I can top off my tires sitting in the garage of an AirBnB, or in front of a hotel, while they are COLD instead of checking their pressure COLD, riding to a gas station, paying $1-$2 for air, guessing how much air to add to the HOT tires, and getting burned a few times on the mufflers or rear rotors in the process, lol!! VERY happy with that purchase!
I have never plugged a motorcycle tire or ever considered it. Interesting replies, sounds like a lot have had good luck. Guess I need to keep an open mind.
This is the posi found myself in that led to the creation of this thread.
I'm in need to save bucks, and the tire was brand new. Realized I'd never known a person having a major failure with a plug, thought my belief might be more of a myth, and asked.
