This is why nice to have two bikes, and even two almost identical. But I still like to spend summer riding.

A pro could do this in hours. Call it a week of week nights after work. Not rushing. Day off, day on, day to do it. Day to replace bearing in primary and shifter shaft seal

I get it those are sand bagging. But I am talking easy after work. And nothing goes quick. Especially if you never did it

In past I was removing floor boards, maybe my least favorite part. I worked with indie, I think he just loosened remove shifter bolt completely.

Clutch left hand threads. I would not do with out manual.

Could even consider a night to rebuild clutch, not saying I did every time.

If you wait to winter I might consider sprocket shaft seal behind stator. I replaced mine year after I replaced stator. Probably was already bad.
I'm thinking some of that may be beyond my skill level...

I made the write up below as something easy to reference. Hope it helps.

Perhaps it is because it shares copyrighted material. It's a shame it keeps getting posted here on this forum, and I hope it doesn't get shut down because of it.

Yes Vernal and for some reason I couldn't find it. I'm sure it's something simple that I missed.

So I went for a ride tonight and went a little longer than I have been and the bike started acting up again. When I did pretty hard push with it pulling out in front of a car the volt meter jumped right up to 16 and check engine lights came on. I slowed down and the lights went out but the volt meter would go up and down depending on how high I revved it. It never dropped below 14 V while it was running.

Going up to 16 implies volt reg, though I realize you replaced it, though off brand. I also realize people say the volt meters are not accurate, but I am not sure they spike high. Myself, I have never had an issue with volt meters. Maybe someone who has, could comment. If I had to guess would read low from bad connections.

Being that it jumped up when raising RPM does imply volt meter is working, and volt reg is not. But I am not going to advocate replacing it, cause you did and not cheap. But it is interesting.

Any light bulbs burned out? The risk of high voltage is damage.

I was actually going to ask if my low priced, but "higher rated" voltage regulator from Amazon could be the problem?
