Default Make 'Quick-Detach' accessories a little less quick to detach

I never liked just how easy it would be to steal my $1500 tourpack, or $500 Sissy bar & rack combo. Especially at some of the rallys. While this will only slow a thief down for a minute or two, it might be just long enough to cause him to move on. Come right off with a pair of needle nose or a pen knife, but it will take a few seconds to figure out WTF is going on.
Just add a wire-tie on the shaft of one of the rotating locks to stop the release from being depressed. Again, I know it isn't a lock, but it'll slow'em down a bit.

I have recently bought a 58 rigid frame with gas tank and oil tank plus a set of drag bars and rear fender with tre and rim. I dont know much about bikes but am very determined to complete this project does anyone have any good advice of where I should start with this bike?

Default floorboard extensions

I have been looking for more foot room on the boards,I didn't want to spend a bunch on some slick looking kit, so I went to the local hardware store and bought 1" brass bushings and replacement bolts 1" longer than stock. It took two trips(because the right side is mounted different than the left) but in no time I had all the room I needed. Paint them black or leave them brass,,looks good and functions great.

sorry can't pm you, so this'll be public.

the '58 was not a rigid frame...so we have a long way to go figuring out you have.
make sure you have correct paper work for this project as you go.

there are a couple of specialist websites for the panhead bikes.

but you need the correct foundation to build to a "year" otherwise you end up with a "put together" mish mash of parts- which may not have any added value over the cost of the parts

here's my original '53 ( incl. paint)

here's my old "put together" '53 - a practiced eye can spot 32 things wrong in 30 seconds--- but can also spot the things which are correct.

Pardon the ignorance, but are they stainless? If not, carbon steel is easily blackened by any competent gunsmith. Modern hot caustic "bluing" produces a nice deep black color.

If they are stainless, there are still options, but it gets more expensive and harder to find. Most smiths don't want to dedicate a bluing tank to something like Oxynate No. 84, and learn to use it.
