When taking off the front wheel or at least the front brakes, take a Crown Royal bag and put your caliper in it. Then put the string over the shifter pedal or the brake pedal!! Instant paint saver!!!

Also a good idea to keep wire ties or duct tape on hand, got me home at least!!.
Took care of this on mine this weekend. WOW!! What a difference. No more shifter slop, no more rattle and shifting is so much smoother and neutral is easier to find.

I found the same thing. I was amazed at the difference in the feel when shifting. A much more "solid", "cleaner" shift.
When my ball joint broke, I needed a quick fix so I took my shift rod in to a local custom shop and he said he had to measure the thread to order the correct heim joints. I'm not sure what me thread actually was, but NO I beleive they come in 4 or 5 different threads/sizes.

Actually, I'm pretty sure all dressers are 5/16-24 thread rod.
