Default Factory Security Install???

Don't think the search engine works here anymore so hence my question.

How difficult to install the Harley Factory Security system on an 2008 SG? I know the computer has to be flashed or something like that but the actual install of the system is what I would like to do.

If you don't have the stock system now, why buy it? Aritronix sells the Scorpio alarm system. It offers more for your money in features and quality and you install it yourself. You can replace individual sensors over time without canning the whole system, and it can be removed and used on other bikes. The company provides the plug that connects right up to your bike, including digital pictures for the install. I wouldn't trade mine for any stock alarm system, and it's 8 years old.

According to their website, they don't offer anything for 2007 or 2008 touring models.

Not sure if the 08 is the same as the 07 but if it is it is a 15 minute job. You will have to get dealer to flash your computer to make it accept the new system. It will not run until you do that. I installed mine in the parking lot and pushed it inside to be flashed. Dealer charged me 1/2 hr. labor to do it.

I just spoke Harley at Aritronix. They haveScorpioalarm systemswith factory connector kits to fit 2007-2008 Harley-Davidson models. Email them or just call 1-800-428-0440.

That system (digitalguarddog) appears to have no siren or paging system. I want to know when my bike is being rolled away and then loaded into a truck. But I guess it's great for casual thieves and whatnot.

I like the factory alarm feature of not always needing a key to start the bike. Didn't see that feature on the other systems.

I never use a key to start my bike with the Aritronix system. I just disarm the alarm and drive away. I only carry the key if I want to lock the forks or bags. This also means not having to replace the ignition switch every few years due to a worn-out spring closure.

You know, there's probably a better system out there somewhere. I based my choice on the Easyriders alarm review, choosing the ThunderPager (now Scorpio) over the Immobilizer. That was back in 2000, so you can bet there are other things out there now.

If money was no object. You could do the lo-jack system
