Get my fairing painted Tuesday. I was wondering... Do they take the whole fairing off? Can you just pop off the outside of it? I need to get a manual. Was wondering if I should try to take it off myself to save a few bucks of labor.
The entire fairing assembly has to come off, if you're talking inner fairing. A lot of work, since all the gauges and clutch cable have to come off too! Just had it done on my girlfriend's SG last year.

While I won't talk you out of spending $60 on the manual because it is a necessity, I will tell you that if you click HERE you will be able to take your fairing off without any manual. You also only need to take the outer faring off for paint.
Yes, you can paint the inner fairing too if you want to. Some have chose to do so of if you want to spend mucho dinero you can buy one from dealer that is already painted. Outer fairing removal is a breeze. The inner is alot more trouble. Good luck !!!
That is what I was thinking. I went to one guy and he wanted to charge me $400 to remove the whole thing just to put a skull in the middle of my fairing. Good to find this out. Thanks guys.
Had the outer fairing off my 07 Glide the other day, only took a few minutes. Leave the top middle screw in place until last if you are doing it yourself. This will hold everything until you can get situated to unplug the headlight when you finally pull the fairing.
