Default 120R Dynoed Finally

I just pick up my 120R from the HD Dealer that did my tune. I was expecting higher #'s (128is/135ish). Also note that he ran this using the STD method, so deduct 5% to get the SAE #'s. I only rode it home from the shop due to the rain and I truly didn't notice that much of a performance differance. I guess all the Smart Tunes that I did must have "dialed me in" pretty good. See my sig for config

The HD dealer most likely gave it a lick and promise tune, they most likely set AFR and called it a day. You only around 75 miles from a great tuner, Dave at JD's Cycle Works will tune it properly. Its mighty tough to Smart Tune and get everything there is to get, I'm sure there is more left on the table. I would expect more torque sooner, at least the majority of the 120R's that are tuned good, have good exhaust, air filter setup, throttle body and injectors do.

I called JDs and the person I spoke to said they only prefer to tune bike with TTS ; which I thought was kinda strange because I went and talked with Dave last year about tuning a Procharger bike w/PCV. I'm going to give him a call tomorrow and see what he say's. As I siad in my post, I haven't had a chance to really ride the bike since it was tuned so I may have been a bit hasty in passing a judgment.

I know he like the TTS but I'm pretty sure he would tune it with the SEPST that you have, I'd make sure I talked with Dave. It'll be interesting to see how you like the ride, it looks like it would be fun.

Talking

Moving up to the ultimate touring platform was the objective after putting over 25k on my '99 King classic last year.
Have searched (nationwide) and found my "new to me" '11 RGU back in January... less than 130 miles from my house. I felt it was a really good deal. Completely stock with 9600 miles on the odometer, and an extended 2 year warranty (which nets me 3.)
Having said that... I found that the stock epa 103" unfulfilling (pathetic actually.) Many times, I'd opt to ride my old King for the "fun factor." Last year, I'd installed a big bore with ported heads and gear driven Andrews 26's. She'll talk to ya, when ya twist the throttle!

The research (quest) began in earnest to upgrade the RGU. I've read countless posts about endless combinations. All I was looking for was the "best" possible solution to my wants: respectable power without compromising reliability. Needless to say, the a/c, pipe, and slip-ons were necessary from the start. Cams and a tuner add a whole new dimension.

Contacted Doc Weaver. Have read lots about him, and many consider him to be the best at his craft in the nation.

On his opinion alone, I installed SE 254E cams. TTS Mastertune, Ness a/c, Fullsac X, and Rinehart 4" rounded out the components. Doc advised that the Rineharts weren't the best performers, but wouldn't argue the sound.

I'm north of Atlanta, and made an appointment along with a good buddy for March 9th.

This was the result:

I consider it a tragedy that Doc was silenced on this (and others) forum.
He's a tuner. Sure he sells the TTS (BTW, I'd already purchased mine... didn't purchase anything other than the tune.) It's what he considers the best, and can factually argue the virtues/downfalls of each system. (I can't!)
If your undecided on what combination of components would best fit your needs, be sure and consult with Doc. The man will cut to the chase, and weed out all the marketing hype. He's been there since the beginning, and knows what works and what's marginal.
I'm really glad that I listened to the man. His description was spot on. It's silky smooth, with power where it's useful. Runs like a sewing machine!

Is it the fastest/quickest 103"? Absolutely not.

Is it finally the touring machine that Harley intended the RGU to be? RESOUNDING YES!

It's been over a month. I've not looked at my bike the same way since Doc's majic was applied.

Best of luck with your choice, I'm tickled to death with mine!

The continuous grin speeks for itself... just sayin'

That chart looks like it would be a fun ride, your spot on about Doc, he's the real deal. I've sent folks his way and they've never left disappointed.

Here's a before and after on a 2011 Street Glide I tuned today. The bike WAS a 103" with a heavy breather (with cover) and V&H crossover pipe with Monster Rounds. New build is a 107", T-man 625's, heads done at our shop (Roeder Racing), HPI 55mm TB, VP lock up clutch, same pipes and breather he had before. If he would get rid of the junk head pipe and breather cover he'd gain some. Nothing real special, I just finally remembered to save a copy of the sheet to post.

got my 254's in my 2011rgu the other day and have put about 300 miles on it and am very pleased. I too took Doc's recommendation on the 254's and am glad I did. I would love to see your chart if doc would have done a 6th gear run for bragging rights.
