If you use them as grabs your going to get them out of shape. Readjust the spring clips with the windshield off of the bike, then install. Never had a problem after mine were adjusted properly.
You guys won't want to hear this, but the system the Royal Star uses for its removable windshield has a positive latch. The two setups are pretty much the same, save that latch. I ain't bitchin tho, the Star is still for sale.
I just went thru same thing.... hit a big pothole and windshield popped off and skidded across the highway it is ruined. never had it come loose an it usually requires pressure to take off, best i can tell poo/poo happens...........350.00 bucks later a new windshield and all is well.

Well that would totally suck......luckily it didn't come back at ya
and slice into your throat, could have been a completely different
outcome.
I had my right mirror vibrate off on the way to Laconia Bike Week....
hit my right wrist then my right shoulder....and almost hit my
ridding buddy beside me on his new S/G. Luckily each one avoided
one another......
