if you do that, i think you're gonna have to make a visit to the dealer so the digital tech can flash your ecm so that security can be disabled on your bike, and enabled on his.
i really don't think it is gonna be as easy as just a module swap.
You're right. It can be done at home in the garage but it's a little involved and takes some time.
I woudnt own a bike with a security system, Like things easy, Just use your key.
see, this i don't understand. i like things easy too. and it doesn't get much simpler than just walking up to the bike, hopping on, starting it and going. i keep my key on the fob ring, so if my key is with me, so is my fob. i would venture to say that if we were both on a ride together, after our stop, i would be ready to go before you, because you'd be fiddling with getting your key out of your pocket, unlocking the ignition and forks, then putting your key back in your pocket, then getting your gloves on.
hell, even if my fob battery died on me at that exact moment, i can input the override in before you can finish all that fumbling.
I'm so used to just getting off my Road Glide and walking away that when I rode one of my other bikes to work recently I was all the way in the building when I remembered I'd forgotten to pull out the key.
Just like so many things in life, some like 'em and some don't; to each his own!
Sure are a lot of people defending the alarm system by saying there's a workaround for all the problems. I don't want the problems in the first place and am glad my dealer took the alarm system out before I bought the bike! I do have the fobs though, wonder if the batteries are still good? lol

not defending it, just some like it some don't. I do. as far as 'workaround' for the problems? nah, just read the manual and use it properly. the problems are 99.9% owner induced because they don't know how to use it.
I agree with the fellow above. I stripped the security system off my 02 and my 11. Sold the one off the 2011 here and I haven't gotten around to boxing up the 2002 system yet.

This is why I keep my security FOB on a ring with my house keys, etc.. And keep my scooter and cage ignition keys on separate rings.
It is my bike. I live in a rural area that I don't think it is nesasary to have it on. It just seems to me like something that will cause trouble someday.
It was on the bike in the showroom. If I had ordered the bike I would not have ordered it. Don't need it, Don't want it, And I Ain't trying to steal it.
Just asking a question, don't need a lecture.
Thanks
No one is lecturing, but to tell you the truth, they work great, cause no issues and I don't even know it's there. Just lock the bike, and pretend it's not there?
