Default best sounding aftermarket fairing

O.K. Thanks to all who helped me in my decision in either customizing my Rk with a fairing or taking the hit on a trade and buying the Ultra. Well it didnt sit well losing 5 large in 8 months on the trade so I guess I am going to do the fairing. I think I have it narrowed down to the DeadCenter fairings. as opposed to the hoppe and the dragonfly. I did a search on cost of components on ebay seems deadcenter appear to be a little more costly in their componenets if thats any way of determining quality. Also the DC"s stereo claims not skip while riding Dragonfly said they sometimes have that problem but not always. I was wondering has anybody really paid close attention to the quality, and the sound and out of the 3 models at any of the shows. Please rate them as you see fit.
Thanks again for your time .

Look at Firebagger/Tsukayu. Lockable, Fiberglass etc.

Get one stereo ready and put whatever killer tuneblaster you choose.

Ok your down to the final “best sounding” fairing. I’m sure that this advice is going to sound like and oxymoron.

But here it goes, I’m going to suggest that you “Look” for what actually looks like its going to sound the best to you..

This also entails, mounting hard ware design and fitment, material of mounting hardware, lock, fit and finish of shell along with material of made of as well as overall quality of construction, water seal (OBTW, DCC does not use “DUCT” tape for water proofing like one does), and overall how you perceive it looks on your bike to YOU.

Any of the fairings currently on the market will sound good. And “sounding” good is going to be a purely subjective comparison with the bike standing still much less the head unit each is specked out with an matched to the speakers.

It will also vary somewhat insignificantly by the overall enclosure. The bottom line, the “sound” is not going to be anything of quality when going down the road 70 or 80 mph.

Sure you will have some isolation of wind noise from the fairing, and if your running lowers it will even help a little more but will also focus more engine noise back at you to boot.

So your quality of sound now is totally relegated to pure overall wattage to over come wind/traffic and engine/drive train noise at road speeds. And the frequency response and wattage limitations of the speakers chosen for the unit.

You will not get or perceive any real (in dated sense) “High Fidelity” (not referring to financing either) or even much of the nuance’s of “Stereo” separation that you as an audiophile would expect in say a room setting or automobiles listening environment.

In a nut shell, let your eyes decide what to get your ears will follow.

With standing some issues of CD track skip, I wouldn’t tolerate that crap period.

My head unit is a Sony CDX-50M Marine coupled with (4) Kenwood KFC-1680ie speakers, which was my choice since at the time of my purchase of the DCC fairing stereo/speakers/wiring and painting was NOT an option back then as it is now.

You can feel the “Hit” inside your rib cage going down the road at 75 mph. To me that’s sounds good enough when passing a Big Rig.

As for DCC fairings Quality, IMHO they are "Top" of the line in materials, craftmanship and Service Pre/post sale, thats Quality. I have no complaints.

Just don't get it painted through them. I used the polk DB 6 1/2" and a Alpine IDA-X001 Head unit, the Alpine will allow you to use a flash drive (I use an 8 gig) or a Ipod, you can also hook up any mp3 portable player to it, not sure how that works as I only used the Ipod and flash drive with it. As for sound I have Rinehart true duals and can hear it fine at 90mph. But at a dead stop not running that setup sounds excellent, great bass and treble very clear sounding, but like someone said before all that goes away at speed.
