Make dam sure you tell them how you want the bike to run. In other words tell them you optimal mpg in the cruise range of 1800 to 3000 rpm. Tell them this up front.
Not too bad - took 2 hours @ $70/hour - don't feel like I got screwed by the stealership at all. Hmmmmm. Maybe they all just know me too well by now.
The PCIII map I had was Dynojet's EXACT map for my EXACT setup - but it seemed very very rich (could smell it) and she backfired occasionally.
Runs slightly better now with the dealer's tweaks. If interested in the maps/graphs, send me an email. I'M HAPPY SO FAR - better get at least 40 mpg (vs. 34)!!!!!
HP/TQ curves are almost superimposed with some difference from 3500 rpm and up. Wasn't expecting too much since that M807-163.djm was Dynojet's map (best one?).
HP = 69.06 to 72.29 TQ = 76.00 to 78.67 AF = was ~ 12.5 @ 3500 to 5500 - boosted to 13.35.
They really cut back on the fuel across the 5% to 20% throttle positions without any noticable loss in performance. I think that is the area that will help my MPG hopefully.
They also adjusted the ignition timing map between 2000 and 4000 rpm @ 0% + 2% throttle - my guess is to reduce the decel popping. Decel pop still there but not as loud.
Almost seems like we could make changes to these maps ourselves to get trial and error results - anybody out there do this???
Let me know what you guys think of the above stuff - typical, screw job or decent??? THANKS ALLOT Dave H. Appleton, WI
Looks like you had a good experience Dave, numbers look good.......I was getting a slight bit of popping with the SE slipons, none since I went to the 2-1 pipe. My last dyno had my ATF at 17 between 2000-3000 rpm's yet getting better MPG than stock and Stage 1. No real set in stone answer for anyone with these EFI bikes, I'm happy, you seem to be happy, so it seems its time to ride
And by the way, no carbon build up what so ever on the end of my pipe, I thought that the 17 would have to be adjusted but after 300 miles and no carbon (which is unheard of, IMO) the tuner may have hit the nail on the head with my map.
Taking my bike in on the 16 th, dealer says it will take 6 hours of dyno time after installing V&H true duals, V&H slip ons stage 1 and sert. , does that sound like a reasonable time?
