Hi all, well I am in the process of having the 205 cams fitted and read about the fact that its no use just fitting cams if the heads are standard in the port area!
I also found a specialist in the UK that will port 88" heads to a standard that will make the cam work better, all at a price of course.
For the same price I can get a set of S/E 110" Heads and fit those on, (well to be honest have bought them ) is this a good idea?
Yours hoping!
I'm not positive on this but I think only certain heads will fit certain engines. I was told the heads from a 96 will not work on a 88, so before you proceed I would make sure the heads you have are compatible. Thats what I did on my 09 when doing my 103 upgrade. I assume the engine builder would know what fits what. You would be happy doing the cams alone but if your going to the trouble of changing the heads why not the go bigger bore at the same time?
You need to check the CC of the 110 heads to make sure the compression ratio is going to be what you want, and also check that the valves clear the pistons.
In my opinion the 205 is a very mild cam, the ports on the 110" heads will be too big for a 88" running a mild cam. you might actually loose torque as the mid range port velocities will be to low.
You would most likely be better off with a mild port job on the stock heads, matched to the cam by a wrench who knows his stuff.

This is a good point. If money is tight you could just fit the 205 cam and not touch the heads, there will be a gain in performance. Then when you have the coin do a 95" and head work at the same time.
Where can I find the specs of the "205" cams? A buddy purchased a carbed 88 in a 2002 electraglide that has them and I want to see the numbers, but they are elusive. I can find 203 and 204 but not 205 or the 255. Best chart I found was actually through this forum at nightrider: http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/h...m_bydur_ql.htm

Here's the specs on the 255. Never heard of the 205.
