What Is a Micron?

A micron is a unit of measurement that is 0.001 millimeters or 0.000039 inches. For example, bacteria are 2 to 3 microns in diameter and a red blood cell is 5 microns. The diameter of human hair averages 70 to 80 microns.

Wix are great. I run them in just about everything. I have the Amoil, and S&S filters on my shelf as well.

I have cut open 100s of filters at work, diagnosing engine failures, and all this new business in recent threads about FRAM being superior will never change my mind about the lack in quality I have seen in years past from FRAM.

Wix builds a great filter, and Mann does as well.

I remember back in the 70's, I built a 289 engine in my '67 Mustang, and then a 330 engine in my '64 Olds 442.... They were done years apart and I used two different shops for the head work. Both shops warned me against using FRAM oil filters... I have never trusted them since those warnings...

Maybe FRAM has completely turned around their quality, or maybe they were never that bad in the first place.... But old habits die hard.. I'll never use them...

I use WIx on my cars (I have used Mann on my wife's Mercedes), Wix or Baldwin on my diesel boats, and HifloFiltro on my Harleys.... I have no need to entertain using a FRAM filter...
